2012 Annual Awards Banquet

The Bolivar Chamber of Commerce held their 2012 Annual Awards Banquet Tuesday evening. Over 100 guests were in attendance to recognize “Bolivar Peninsula’s Best”. The Chamber of Commerce honors local citizens in the categories of Citizen of the Year, Educator of the Year, Business of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year. In addition, this year two special awards were given.

Driftwood Charity Gumbo Cookoff

Summary:Hit or miss at the pass this past week with good speck action early in the cut or surf for specks from 3 to 7lbs- Reds were slow for the most part with a few caught from 28 to 43inches- Large Gaff-Top also made the scene with one estimated at 10lbs- Flounder were few but anglers caught quality flatfish with one 24inch doormat reported- When gusty winds lay the action should pick up for all species.

3rd Annual B O N Party USA, June 1-3

The 3rd Annual Biker or Not Party will be held June 1st, 2nd & 3rd at TIKI Bar & Grill in Crystal Beach. All proceeds benefit the EMS Angel Motorcycle Club for their “Share The Pain” Teddy Bear Project. Each year, the EMS Angel MC helps re-stock teddy bears in all EMS vehicles in Galveston County…and this year they will include Chambers County vehicles. “The medics need you, the kids count on you”.

Summary- Last week provided good speckled trout action both in the surf as well as the pass- redfish bites slowed a bit but began to pick up toward weeks end- this coming week of prime fishing weather should provide some really prime catching activity.
