Only temporarily…we went for our Summer Trip to visit the kiddos in North Carolina. We arrived in time to pick up Addyson (6 years old) from swimming lessons – what a fish! She saw us standing there and man did she pour on the antics! Diving to the bottom to retrieve all ten of the rings thrown in by the teacher. The next day, PawPaw watched the whole Taekwondo practice – Orange Belt – Go Michael (3 years old). Little Dax (17 months old) was a bit apprehensive when we arrived, but golly, he hasn’t seen us for over 4 months. Well, it didn’t take long to win him over.
It’s uncanny how parents can let grandparents totally undo almost all rules, regulations and curfews. They give us almost all the reins, especially when it comes to a Parent’s Night Out. The PNO began with us taking the grandkids to dinner at their favorite Mexican Restaurant, MiCasita – a little cheese dip, chips, tacos, rice and beans – we’re set. Oh, by the way, never ask for Queso in North Carolina – no comprende …
We ended the evening with a stop at Mellow Mango, the local yogurt establishment. Dax and I shared Cheesecake and Strawberry – no toppings. The others went crazy with jelly beans, M&M’s, marshmallows, sprinkles and whatever else they offered. It’s all about spoiling the kids and grandkids and we have to admit that we enjoyed ourselves to the max! When can we come back????
