Another perfect weekend

I’m not sure what a non-perfect weekend is anymore, hope I don’t have one any time soon. We actually left the beach a while ago, left the state as a matter of fact! It’s difficult – we can never imagine leaving, but we had a glorious relaxed time with the family in North Carolina. We came back just in time to write our fluffy stories for this online publication last Monday. Now, as I sit here, I can’t believe it was only a week ago that we were returning. I go through the motions of day-to-day, but always with a look-out of what to expect next. What to expect next, for me, was the Ladies Fishing Tournament. I’ve only been on a guided fishing tour once, which I enjoyed to the max! This tour was with a guide I’d just met, and the tournament was with two other women I “didn’t” know well.

Needless to day, the four of us got along famously. Our guide was so competitive, he had us reeling all over the bay for 8 hours. We couldn’t have asked for more of an adventure. Tired and exhausted, we made our way back to the weigh-in, where we were greeted by family who had been hanging out at Stingaree for two hours. They were so excited – or surprised to see us – that we had actually caught some fish and had something to show for our efforts.

After a tough and bumpy and wet day, we congratulated each other on the fact we didn’t have to use the bucket all morning – but we sure raced each other to the toilets back at the marina, even our guide who told us he’s not usually out there all day with a bunch of women. Good job Captain Chad!

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
