On Tuesday, August 19, 2014, the Second Semi Annual Red Petticoats held their “Hats & Handbags for Heroes” Bunco Tournament Fundraiser benefiting the Lone Survivor Foundation Crystal Beach Retreat, at Tiki Beach Bar & Grill. The group gathered and the excitement could be heard near and far as the participants drew their table assignments and the dice started to roll. Ange Busceme walked away as the new Bunco “Queen” winning a beautiful pink beach chair generously donated by Harold’s Garden Depot.

A big THANK YOU to Anne Willis for donating the winner purses by Dooney & Burke and Kate Spade, AND our wine that kept the evening lively. Huge thanks also to Karen & Chris, owners of Tiki Beach Bar & Grill for providing the venue and donating our tasty buffet for the evening. With 48 ladies participating and other generous donations the Red Petticoat Team donation from the tournament totaled $1,284.25. This is the second tournament the team has held with the first Bunco tournament in March making a donation of $1,000.00. The Bolivar Peninsula Cultural Foundation’s board & officers wanted to contribute to the Crystal Beach Retreat of The Lone Survivor Foundation and formed the “Red Petticoat Team” honoring Jane Long’s strength and spirit of survival. A Team fundraising goal of $10,000.00 was set at the beginning of this year. The Team has surpassed their goal with $11,866.25 in donations thus far. Watch for future events to benefit our growing donation. If you would like to contribute or join the Red Petticoats, please contact Glenda Mastin at
