Summary: This past week provided excellent night fishing under lights with most anglers catching limits of speckled trout. Literally tons of bait fish attracted the trout, reds, large croaker with a scattering of Spanish mackerel.
Speckled Trout- Mostly night action under lights with lots of school trout hitting live shad or soft plastics. The early morning trout bite provided good specks both in the surf and rollover bay- best bite during outgoing tide. (Size and Limits- 15inches to 25inches for 10 specks with one 25incher per day when added as part of the daily limit).
Redfish- No major runs but a few really nice reds hitting in the cut with one 53inch Bull Red caught and released in the surf. (20 inches to 28 inches for 3 reds, with one over 28inches when tagged in addition to the 3 fish daily slot limit).
Flounder- A few nice keeper flounder hitting live shad, finger mullet, gulp, or mud minnows along bay side bulkheads or the gulf side wall. (Limit: 14inches minimum for 5 flounder per day).
Black Drum- Lots of undersized puppy drum but a few nice keeper eaters with one BEHEMOTH 50plus Lb Bull caught and released. REMEMBER- ALL drum under 14 inches and over 30 inches MUST be released NO TAGGING. ( Limits: 5 per day at 15- 30 inches).
GAFF TOP- SLOW, Intracoastal canal best bet. (Limits: 14 inch minimum, no creel limit).
Sand/Gulf Trout - Plenty of nice sand trout on both sides of cut. (No limits).
Whiting/Croaker- Large croaker and some really nice bull whiting in cut. (No Limits).
Crabbing - LOADS of blue claws on bay side with some really nice stones on gulf side. (blue limits, must be 5 inches across carapace (point to point). No creel limits, ALL SPONGE CRABS (egged females) MUST BE RELEASED.
Stone Crabs - Largest claw is kept ONLY if two are present. Kept claw must be 2 ½ inches from the knuckle.
Shark -Good shark action in surf for black-tip, bonnet head, and bull, with one 52inch tip landed. (Limit- 1 at 24inches).
