The American Red Cross “Sending Care” Campaign
Crenshaw NJHS is asking volunteers and the community to help collect items to send to soldiers fighting in Afghanistan. Start Date: 10-1-2012, End Date: 10-18-2012
Community/Volunteers: Please bring any items you can to Crenshaw front office where it can be collected by NJHS.
Students: Bring items to your homeroom teacher to be collected by NJHS.

NALA GUTIERREZ Student of the Month – Crenshaw Elementary
Nala is a third grade student at Crenshaw School. Her teacher is Mrs. Parsons She has a brother named Alan. Her parents are Alma and Alan Guiterrez. She is an A honor student, a member of our Bulldog Pack, a continual recipient of citizenship awards. Nala has perfect attendance and is a member of the Junior Master Gardener Program. Nala enjoys playing her DS, watching television, and writing to her penpal, Anika, who attends school in Plano, Texas. In addition, Nala loves reading about history, working on computers and other forms of technology. Her dream in life it to be an inventor, and her favorite subject in school is Science.
What makes Nala successful is her diligence, work ethic, commitment and passion to learn. She is a great leader and excellent role model for other students. The one thing that others may not know about Nala is that she loves to make people laugh by telling funny jokes. Nala says that the most important moment of her life was when she was born. Nala says one of the saddest moments of her life was when Ernesto Rodriguez passed on.
Nala would like to pass on a value message and that is to think about the positive and not the negative.
KARINA GUEVARA Student of the Month – Crenshaw Elementary
Karina Guevara is an 8th grade honor student at Crenshaw. She has three siblings. Jim and Carol that attend Crenshaw, and an older brother, Jose, who has already graduated High School. Karina is an A Honor student who is also a member of the National Junior Honor Society and Student Council. Karina participates in a plethora of events and activities. She was the volleyball team captain, basketball team captain, and she is currently playing tennis and running track. Karina is a member of Crenshaw’s thespian program, a member in the NOAA research project, a team leader in the Radio Broadcast program, and the first place winner of Crenshaw’s Science Fair. She participates in beach clean-ups and other various community oriented projects. She dedicates herself to others and quietly leads by her example, demeanor, faith, and honor.
Karina’s favorite subject in school is Algebra I. Due to her diligence, Karina will leave 8th grade with 7 high school credits: Pre-AP Spanish I, Pre-AP Spanish II, Pre-AP Biology, Pre-AP Algebra I, Health, Pre-AP Art History, Ceramics, and Communication Applications.
Karina enjoys riding her bike, computer projects, babysitting her siblings, participating in all extra-curricular activities. She thoroughly enjoys reading, and can’t wait to start reading a new book. She enjoys her family and friends. For Karina, the most important thing in the world is to attend college and be a good example for her family, friends, and community. Karina is going to be a Pediatrician when she graduates college. She loves science, kids, and helping others, so for her, becoming a doctor isn’t a choice, but a calling.
Karina would like to pass on a value message to others: If you give up on accomplishing something just because it is difficult, you give up on yourself. People should never give up because struggle makes the success of reaching a goal even better.

Thank you to our community and businesses that helped make our Dinner Theater a success! We hope that all in attendance enjoyed the students’ work and will return for our next production. Crenshaw’s Dinner Theater is Back!
The play is scheduled for Friday, February 3rd at 7:00 PM. Menu is: Brisket, chicken, sausage, beans, potato salad, salad, rolls, desserts! Cost is $10 per adult or child 9 and up. Ages 8 to 4 are $5 and under that age are free. Come join us for a night of drama where a lesson about character is emphasized. This is a serious play, but our next dinner theater will be all laughs.
Come support our students-trust me, they are working hard. Tickets will be pre-sold and will be sold at the door. Our students will be your waiters and waitresses for the evening. Come enjoy the night with us.
