In 2013, an idea was conceived out of a leisurely walk on the beach. Two years later, “A Shore Venture” was born. Specializing in unique, creative and affordable adventures, activities, workshops and events on the Bolivar Peninsula in Texas, they can help with all the details & logistics so you can enjoy more of the shore. On Saturday, February 6th, they will have a soft opening for their beach toy rentals. Inventory will include surfboards, kayaks, bicycles, paddle boards, tables & chairs, and more.
Within a two hour drive of Houston, Galveston, Beaumont (TX) and Lake Charles (LA), the Bolivar Peninsula is close enough to drive in for a day at the beach and be back in time for dinner. For those who are attending a meeting or convention, they offer the perfect getaway for a spouse/significant other program. Other markets served include corporate team building, family reunions, church outings, youth programs, “girl days out”, or any other private group.
Having spent the last twenty-five years in the meeting and events business on a national scale, owner Debbie Borel Ploeger can think of no better canvas to use her talents and contacts. “All our events are customizeable to the client.”
Her husband and co-owner, Kurt, has ties to the Bolivar Peninsula dating back to the early 50’s. 
His mother was a school teacher in Beaumont so the first day of summer break they headed for the beach. When not working, he was surfing, fishing or hunting. His most memorable job EVER, was renting surfboards on the beach, the summer of 1970. While managing the rental side of the business, Kurt looks forward to seeing some familiar faces and usher in a new generation of beach bums as he recreates his early years.
