A Thanksgiving Fellowship For All

thanksgiving0By Terry Westerman
The Bolivar Peninsula is a culture all unto itself and has been a tight knit community for a very long time. The people here have had their “Up’s” and “Down’s” but we have shared those with each other and have held fast for the good that has come as a result of being community. We all have watched the peninsula slowly but surely rebuild from the last “Down’er” called Ike, and have witnessed that we are stronger and a more determined people for it. Every year for the last 22 years the “Ministerial Alliance” of the Bolivar Peninsula, has hosted 2 major events for the community. These events have One Thing in mind, “Being Thankful”. The Easter “Son-Rise” service held on the beach is an awesome time of the community coming together and being thankful for our risen Savior, Jesus, and worshiping God who loves and created us. We are coming up on the annual “Thanksgiving Fellowship” at which we come to celebrate God’s goodness to us, having a thankful heart for all of His provision that He has given. Over time, this dinner has become mostly church folks attending, and while that’s OK, our passion is that this year we as a community of people, in every walk of life, regardless of social standing, will come together and celebrate the greatness and goodness of God this Thanksgiving. thanksgiving2Both of our community events are hosted and supported by the local churches with the mission of engaging our community and through the events help support qualified graduating senior high school students with scholarships each year.

“Thanksgiving Fellowship” this year will be hosted at Crystal Beach Community Church at their new location, 1020 Diamond Drive, just North of Highway 87, on Sunday, November 23rd at 6:00pm. A Community Choir will be leading us in a song service and everyone is invited to come and be part of the choir with a rehearsal being held on Saturday, November 22nd at 2:00pm at Crystal Beach Community Church. Following the service there will be a time of fellowship with finger-foods, deserts and beverages. So, If your new to the beach or homegrown this is a time that you can come and meet old friends or make some new ones, but above all that we come together as a community with a Thankful heart towards God.

There are No tickets to be sold, No entry fee to be paid, we will collect a love offering that will go to the Scholarship Fund for the graduating seniors. So just come and enjoy fellow-shipping with other folk from the beach. We’ll see you there!

Blessings to you all.
