As
the sun set on the 3rd of July, old and young alike were restless waiting
for the Annual Bolivar Chamber "Light Up the Night" fireworks show.Grilled hot dogs with chips and drinks were
available by our local Chamber.Fireworks donated by local sponsors were lined up and on display, with
great thanks to "Big Daddy Fireworks", locally owned and operated by Larry
Flanagan.
Local
residents and vacationers were lined up in anticipation of the show to
come.If you saw this show in person,
here, on www.CrystalBeachLocalNews.com,
you will see a different version of what was seen by the actual naked
eye. Here you can view the streams of light as
the
fireworks go shooting off into the evening sky.Spectacular, fireworks show, thank you Bolivar Chamber of

GOOD NEWS: The tumors are all shrinking! The liver,
colon and lung tumors all showed shrinkage, our Oncologist was very
pleased.
BAD NEWS: Jerry has a blood clot in his Pulmonary Artery
:( The good side of this is that it is located way down low (?) so
it's not going to travel anywhere and cause him problems. The bad
side of this is they won't do surgery until he's had 2 months of
anti-coagulants. They gave him his first injection today and we will
give him an injection every day for 6 months. We will continue chemo for
4 weeks starting Monday. After 4 weeks, he will rest for one month
(August) and then schedule liver surgery in September. The other bad side
of this is when I got his prescription filled today, and it was outrageous. Needless to say, we left that medicine on the counter and
chose another cheaper drug and took home a 2 week supply. I am going to
contact the manufacture of this wonder drug and see if I can beg them into
letting us get a much much much much reduced price. Coumadin by mouth (
at $51.00 a month) won't work because you have to stop taking it months before
your surgery and we don't have that much time before his surgery.
God has been sooo good to us and we know that He will find a way
for this to happen. I can't tell you all how much your prayers, cards and
calls have meant to us and apparently they meant a lot to God too!!

"I
will cause your descendants to become as numerous as the stars, and I will give

my requirements, commands, regulations, and laws." ~ Genesis 26:4-5 NLT
The source of
liberty
We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who
walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of
bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that
everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of human freedoms-to
choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances-to choose one's own
way. ~ Victor Frankl
For Americans, July 4 has
special meaning as we celebrated Independence Day. There were parades and
picnics and fireworks. It is a day to celebrate freedom-and to recognize God as
the true source of freedom and blessing for any nation.
So much of our freedom today seems bound up in a world driven by material
possessions, yet those who died for the liberty we enjoy often did so to obtain
or preserve freedoms of conscience - speech, religion, assembly, among others.
And much of the blessing we enjoy today began with the promise God made to
Abraham.

Coast Guardsman on the scene called it "emulsified
oil" but declines to speculate on its origin James Shannon;
Mid & South County Editor Southeast Texans living in Crystal Beach on the Bolivar
Peninsula got news late Saturday afternoon that they had rather not have
received. Following Hurricane Alex sending excessively high tides, having the
only road into Bolivar closed due to flooding and debris filling SH 87, and
many businesses closed last week, vacationeers and residents alike reported oil
residues on Crystal Beach.

The U.S. Coast Guard is
confirming to KFDM News that it's investigating the discovery of small amounts
of oil on Crystal Beach, and the agency says it's far too early to know if the
oil might be linked to the spill off the coast of Louisiana.
Tar BallsTar balls have been
found on BolivarPeninsula
beaches for a long time but with the oil spill there is concern that we
will
eventually get lots more. So if you find large tar balls please report
them to
GLO at their oil spill number 1-800-832-8224. They are trying to get
base line
data for our coast.
