Baltimore

Back down and around a mountain, through three interstate highways, and we are at Baltimore. Wish we had a week to see such a beautiful city, but we didn’t – so we did the best we could and hit the inter-harbor area. Baltimore has done a beautiful job of combining the old with the new. The skyline is full of new age architecture, glass and steel, every bit as pretty as Houston. Like Houston, they have built around the old homes and buildings that surround their waterways. Baltimore has done a good job of attracting to their inter-harbor.

There are four historic ships. At all times, you can find a tour. You can find a coupon that allows you to tour all four for the price of two. Baltimore also invites ships from all over the world to visit, there were two navy ships in port from Japan. You could tour these ships for free on Thursday – Saturday. We were there on Wednesday. Oh well, we got great pictures of the ships and sailors.

If you are old like us, buy the water taxi tickets. Well worth the small price for the day. There is an aquarium, maritime park, science center, Little Italy, a light house to tour, and everything you would ever want to eat. There must be 50 places to eat, from ice cream to tacos, from pricey to pennies. Just enjoy all the way around the harbor.

Baltimore has a World Trade Center too. The 27th floor is dedicated to the Trade Center in New York. On 9/11 many of the people that were lost were from Maryland. The entire floor is dedicated to the victims and survivors of that day. A must see.
