Biloxi and area Part I

I have put off writing this story for three weeks, poor Tom didn’t think I was going to finish. In my heart I guess I really did not want to write this one, you see, it means the trip of a life time is over. Almost every day was a new adventure and almost every day was fun, well almost. Anyway, back to Biloxi, we really had a hard time finding a place to stay, but we did find one-night stay at a very nice park, no pool, just adults. When I walked into the office, I introduced myself and asked if by chance there had been any cancellations for a few days? Yea, just 10 minutes before we arrived, a man who comes to the park just about every month had to cancel. So we stayed, for four nights.

Now the reason everything in the area was booked is “Crusin’ the Coast.” Ever heard of it? Well once again we fell into a great weekend. “Crusin’ the Coast” is a two weekend event and people and their fixed up cars come from all over the US and Canada. There were refurbished cars from the 40’s,50’s, 60’s and more, there were hot rods, superchargers and more. RR was in car-hog heaven. We toured the downtown area of Gulfport on Sunday afternoon walking for blocks looking at cars, trucks, and hotrods. Gulfport had closed off about 6 blocks of downtown for the weekend show. The following weekend was a parade down old 90 in the town of Long Island.

Old Hwy 90 is the coast road just off the beach with white sand forever. The other side of the road are old and new homes overlooking the Gulf. Some of this side of the street is vacant because the house blew down during a storm in the last hundred years. The reason I am telling you this is people come from everywhere to watch the show of cars, they park on vacant lots and tail gated watching the cars cruise the highway.

Mark you calendar for next year, it is a must see if you like beautiful cars from “our” era.
