Bolivar has a plastic recycling program

Thanks to David Harris with Bolivar Tourism, Bolivar has a plastic recycling program! David has purchased blue recycling bins for five locations. Sweat Fitness, Latitudes, Bay Vue Methodist Church, Crystal Beach Community Church and Mavens. Casey Winslow from Beaumont/Bolivar has agreed to deliver our full bags of plastic to Waste Management in Beaumont. (There is no one who will come to the peninsula to pick them up.) We recycle plastic water bottles and caps, milk and juice containers and plastic clamshells. All plastic must be washed and rinsed before recycling unless they were for water only. If one dirty container gets in the bag, the whole bag goes to landfill. NO plastic bags! They do not take them.

The response has been awesome! We collect so many bags each week that they will not all fit in Casey’s car. So, we are asking for volunteers who go to Beaumont anyway to help deliver the bags. If you would like to be added to a base of volunteers that we can call from time to time to deliver, please contact me at 409-673-0536, Charlotte Stirling.

If any other businesses on Bolivar would like to receive a Team Bolivar Recycle Bin please feel free to stop by the Bolivar Tourism office in Crystal Beach Plaza or contact Charlotte and we will supply containers and bags.

Thank you David and Casey!!

I would love to have one of these somewhere in High Island. Please steer me in a direction on how this could happen.
Thank you for what you are doing for our planet!
