Dinner is Served!

By Cindy Clay Srader
There is nothing I enjoy more than entertaining. Because of health restraints I have not done much but I need to start forcing myself. I enjoy it too much to not make that effort. This week I am only doing my article on Beach inspired table settings. Notice that there are many items on this table that can be “do it yourself”. Spray paint a few branches to add that coral look to the table. Don’t skimp on these. They look great as a background for the rest of the setting. The vase on the table is a basic shape that once covered in tiny white seashells will be an ongoing decorative piece. If you look to the left you will see an urn that that has stacking sea urchins in a pyramid shape to give even more dimension to the table. You can purchase the sea ferns and spray paint them a color that would go with the rest of your color scheme. When it comes to nature there is nothing like using green at least somewhere in your design. I think that layering is an important part of a place setting. What would these place settings be without the seashells, seahorses, and sea ferns? Also note that this place setting uses some more formal silver accents. I love the way we can be as formal or as casual just by changing a few things. We are so fortunate to be able to live here at the beach where we can use nature’s bounty to help us in all phases of decorating. (this article was first published 6/25/2013)

Remember, keep that smile on your face and bring some sunshine to the rest of the world!

What is “BEACH CHIC”? A design style comprised of a combination of clean lines and organic finishes that work together to create a relaxing and inviting atmosphere. The color scheme is inspired by the beach and the natural environment of sun, sea and sand!
