Do you ever wonder just where the time goes?

I made my husband promise we’d take one hour on Sunday to go out on the beach – bring some chairs, take a cooler and the dog and just sit. Just one hour. So I didn’t remember until we were sitting at dinner with our son and grandson over in Galveston at Yaga’s on Sunday evening. We were sitting outside and as I looked up at the brilliant blue sky, I remembered – hey, it didn’t rain today and we didn’t make it to the beach. What did we do?

Sundays are really weird lately, since we go to church on Saturday evening instead. So, Sunday morning, bright and early, we decided we needed to tackle the yard. Grass was knee high to a grasshopper – time to mow! I think it was probably 7 or 7:30. I kept thinking – if we were still in the city, we’d at least have to wait until the decent hour of 9 or 10. Oh my goodness, then I thought about my neighbors “from the city” who came down for a peaceful get-away at the beach and I’m on my riding mower right under their windows on a Sunday morning. Sorry, Anna.

There’s something to be said about rising early. I didn’t come back into the house until 11:30, after visiting my garden, weeding a bit and noticing that now, I have not only one artichoke, but three! Life is good – on the beach

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
