Good friends, good food, good films and great fun! These were all provided by Dr. Melanie and Mack Wallace. The generous twosome treated beach buddies Dr. Marcel and Linda C. Elissalde to a fantastic Ft. Worth weekend. The Lone Star Film Festival provided superb entertainment for the foursome. Movies entered in competition by up and coming youngsters, and Hollywood studio pictures, were offered all day long for 4 days. The Wallaces and Elissaldes viewed as many as they could fit into a day. Some theaters even sported comfortable, cushioned reclining chairs. One of the group’s favorite entries was a documentary, JANEY MAKES A PLAY. Janey’s grandson Jared Callahan wrote and directed the movie.

Janey, who is 90, has written, directed and produced community plays for myriad years. This was her 18th production. The whole small, coastal town of Rio Vista, CA is involved. Melanie, Linda, Mack and Marcel laughed and cried all through this delightful romp. Since all 4 have been deeply involved in Crystal Beach presentations, they identified with all the fun and headaches that go into creating a show. (Linda is already starting to think along the lines of a show that would use all the talents here on the peninsula. Marcel is trying to change her mind.)

Food was abundant. Melanie’s fantastically fried bacon, and Mack’s from scratch waffles, opened the first day. (It should be pointed out that while Mack cooks the waffles, they are made by Melanie.) Since the Wallaces’ creatively decorated apartment is in downtown Ft. Worth, the group walked to all their venues. Those downtown restaurants provided delicious and varied fare. Of course, if you are in Ft. Worth, you must have steak. However, other foods were just as delectable. Thank goodness everyone had to walk where ever they went.

Nothing can equal the fun that happens when good friends visit. The Wallaces and Elissaldes always talk, laugh and just have a delightful time when they get together. Marcel and Linda feel most grateful and lucky to count the Wallaces among their list of wonderful companions who live, have lived, or weekend in Crystal Beach, Texas. What a place!
