Happily ever after

There we were, heading out of town for the weekend, making our way to catch the 6:30 am ferry. Wow, what a feeling of security, one facing east and the other facing west, our only two deputies, there on the side of the road, chatting. I guess Dannay’s wasn’t open yet…but I digress. Off to another wedding we go. I can’t tell you how much I love these weddings we aren’t responsible for anymore. We checked into the Marriott in Austin and headed on down to the sports bar to watch five different games of football happening on five different screens. Who should be in the bar but Jordan Rodgers from last season’s Bachelorette. I didn’t recognize him, but our daughter-in-law did. She won’t give me the selfie she took of them because she doesn’t trust me, she thinks I would put it on Facebook. Really?

The wedding was delightful, outdoors at a little boutique hotel (that we couldn’t afford to stay in), but that’s okay, it was a lovely 8 minute cab ride. It’s all good. Interesting ritual they did combining sand from San Diego where the bride grew up along with sand from Crystal Beach where our nephew spent many summers growing up. Where was my tissue? Dinner, dancing, wedding cake and we were done, or so we thought. Back to the sports bar after the wedding to meet up with more wonderful people and lively discussions that I couldn’t remember the next day.

And we lived happily ever after.

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you. Email: [email protected]
