I do not like green eggs and ham

Well of course you wouldn’t, what the heck are green eggs? I’ve lately become a fan of Dr. Seuss – I know I read all those books to my kids 30+ years ago, but did I ever think what I was reading about? “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” I recently attended a high school phenomenon that blew my socks off. Maybe because my 16 year old granddaughter was the stage manager of the production…yes, but the play was the most magnificent, colorful three hour treat I could ever imagine. Maybe because I knew a lot of the actors too. They’ve been here to the house on weekends. We sat around the bonfire together while they entertained us with show tunes and antics out of this world.

I put this performance right up there with any Cirque du Soleil program I’ve ever seen. So much going on all over the set. I just want to go back again next weekend to watch all the goings on I might have missed last Saturday night.

seussSunday night’s performance was a host to TUTS and Tommy Tune. Oh my gosh! Can you imagine how nervous those performers must have been? “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

The only remembrance I had from my Dr. Seuss years was that Horton took care of Mayzie’s egg for so long, that when it hatched, it was an elephant with wings. Horton was a very wonderful caretaker of that egg! “I meant what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant’s faithful one-hundred percent!

I wish I could work in all the quotes I need to, here’s a very important one: “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?” We don’t all have to be a part of the flock, it’s okay to be different …

Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
AND, WITH THIS, I WISH YOU ADIEU

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
