It’s all good…

GO_1125It was the annual duck hunt this past weekend – Maezy and I were the only girls in the house with a bunch of hunters. It’s always a treat when the Dallas Boys come to town – they are so easy to entertain. If you have guns and fishing poles, you’re in business. Stingaree was our main destination when they arrived on Friday night, Bread Pudding to take home for dessert, and an early night to bed so the hunters could get up by 4am.

No problem, Maezy and I went back to sleep until mid-morning. Great news, my 13 year old grandson shot his first duck, a greenhead mallard, we’ll have it stuffed for him as a Christmas present. There’s always a “first,” and I’m happy it happened with his PawPaw. After the duck hunt, the guys went off for flounder fishing. Not to put the pressure on, but anticipating I may need to start working on dinner, I decided to text my husband – “Fajitas or Fish?”

Yay, the fishing trip was a success! Flounder, some sand trout, salad, corn on the cob, cheesy biscuits, ceviche and guacamole. Those fellows are some good cooks, I’m always impressed with their cooking abilities. Always the game player, I offered to play poker with the lot. I played my best coy act about not knowing too much about poker, and they had to explain each game to me. Guess what? I took them to the cleaners!

Joe apologized the next morning for getting a little too boisterous, so I let him make up for his outrageousness by making us some buttermilk pancakes and sausage for breakfast.

It’s all good…

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
