Jeeps go Topless

They roared into town Friday night in preparation for their 6th Annual Go Topless Day! This past Saturday, 85 jeeps gathered together for their picture. Jeep clubs from all over Texas participated in the weekend event. Also present on the beach, from San Antonio, were “Wheelers for The Wounded”, an organization existing solely to express thanks and gratitude to those service members, past and present, who volunteered to serve and have sacrificed so much for our country. Topless needs to be cancelled. 4th of July holiday is enough. People have turned into wild animals. Next they will resort to cannibalism.

First off as a long time Jeeper let me apologize to the families that had to witness this event that has been bastardized. This event was created to be a place where Jeep owners and their families could get together and celebrate the Jeep lifestyle. It became bastardized when people who were not Jeep owners started attending. In the Jeep world ‘Go Topless’ means taking the top of your Jeep. While ‘Going Naked’ means removing the top and doors. Meanwhile the rest of the world assumed it meant exposed breast. SO that in turn brought out all the people who turned this family event into a spring break/ mardi gras for people in their 40’s. Since it was ruined by simple minded morons the same event was moved to East Beach. There it remains what it was established to be, a family friend Jeep event. Meanwhile in other locations such as South Padre Island, Matagorda Island, and Port Aransas Beach Jeepers still gather for GTD in the original unbastardized form.

Hi, please tell me how to become a member of your jeep group. I have an older jeep that goes topless and am considering adding a newer one. Would really like attending your East Beach Jeep event next year and other activities as well. What is your website so I can check it out once I become a member. Thanks, Jim & Marsha

I just noticed your post was from 2017, but I thought your Jeep Week event at Crsytal was moved for 2018 to East Beach? From what I saw, it still went on at Crystal Beach. Once I become a member, I’m sure I can get updates on when & where things are happening. Thanks again 🙂

    • JB says:

No problem if not a jeep. I’ve been driving around in the golf cart. It’s a public beach, so have at it! Definitely lots of Jeeps out there though.

I find this whole event as a giant celebration of idiotic. I was down on crystal beach for vaction with my family included two kids 4yr and 1yr old. Was unaware of the jeep rally coming, wish i had and would have been able to avoid the whole disaster. All i saw was drunk pll speeding up and down the beach Extreemly unsafe had to stay off of the beach for 3 days -fri sat and sun to protect the kids. Ppl urinating and deficating in open view. Disregard for others. I had chairs and umbrella setup for my family and had jeepers come and park infront of my chairs while in the water and unwilling to move. and to top it off all the Confederate flags and open displays of racism. You can keep your jeeps i will focus on taking care of my family and living a life that i can be proud of.

    • Andy says:

Interesting you bring up racism Josh. You claim this event was so bad with open displays of racism but did you fail to notice with OVER 4000 Jeeps, and likely triple that number for a head count, there were; NO FIGHTS? NO ARRESTS? NO VIOLENCE? Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Asians, etc… All together, UNITED. Can you think of many other racially diverse gatherings with such a positive turnout? One that also brought a ton of business businesses on Bolivar Peninsula and Galveston?
I also so nobody taking a dump in public, or dumping and peeing in open view… perhaps you caused a major scene so those who flew those flags you hate so much decided to crap on your camp to make yall leave….
You called this event “idiotic” there has now been only one idiotic post about the event, yours! Have a great day!

    • Ron says:

My family and I attended the Jeep weekend. It was a truly a special event. For your info., the event happens the weekend after Mother’s Day. Don’t come.

    • dave says:

You are an Idiot.before you spread lie’s i seriously doubt that happen. The rebel flag does not mean that people are racist. You are a closed mined fool and you probably support Hillary Clinton.I feel bad for your kid’s.Good luck in life buddy, loosen up.Life is to short to be an ******.

For the love of all things Holy people, clubs should be disbanded and banned from existence by the Big Jeeper upstairs if this crap keeps up! I’m very new to Jeepin and love the excitement of rock crawling and hill climbing, but already hearing far too much about stupid drama between clubs and members.
Each club claims to be above it all then lobs drama bombs all over the place: folks it is meant to be fun and an escape from stresses of our daily lives. If you can’t play well with others perhaps you should join the Big Irate Tricky Crawlers Horde (B.I.T.C.H.) or Miserable Off-road People’s Experiment (M.O.P.E.) and leave those of us interested in peaceful off-roading alone.

  10. Omk says:

Best event ever. Keep it up… Love to see all the jeeps

  11. Butch says:

My wife and I have a weekend home on Crystal Beach and we never knew about this event do we took our Jeep to the beach and had a great time looking at other Jeeps. Can’t wait for the next event. Great job for setting this event up

  12. Butch says:

My wife and I are late. 50’s First timer great event we will do again .

  13. sad Jeeper says:

Pardon the auto correct typos above!

  14. sad Jeeper says:

This whole event is just sad for me. I’ve been a Keeper since 16 and have owned many jeeps. This “rift” between groups is just childish. Not joining together for a once a year momentous occasion is even more childish and very sad for me. What could have been a record breaking meetup didn’t happen. Both locations (Galveston and Crystal) was a great turnout and successful. It should have been better! Aren’t Jeep peeps supposed to come together for each other no matter what? Especially for an event like this? Its just very very sad to me…. Each group admins have deleted members because they voice opinions. What happened to freedom of speech? Is that persons opinion that damaging to your ego? Who really cares! Many of you have lost sight of what Jeepin is about. My jeep is stickered up with HJP, TJ, SETX and few few others. To me its big family. To some of you like majority of HJP admins and that “group” feel you’re above everyone. That’s not leadership! Leadership unites the groups. I’m just glad the “heads” of HJP don’t represent the majority of that group…… I can guarantee all of you reading this that “Jeeping Dude” is in fact one of the HJP “leaders”… Jeeping Dude, people like you are a disgrace for what Jeep represents.

    • YJ Round Lights says:

That is no lie…jeep people, some, are creepy and wack…they get bent all out of shape over dumb crap…get a life people and grow up…dumb.

  15. KennyB says:

Tom there’s always a stink of some kind between the jeep groups. I pray that one day all the jeepers could unite together for the “CAUSE” without confrontation. Texas Jeeps contacted you about their story. We didn’t contact you with our story. Texas Jeeps did their own thing, stayed on Crystal Beach to themselves and took their own picture. There were other issues caused that few know about that involved others at the picture. Karim, Robert Brown and several others worked hard to put this event together. We don’t need bickering to over shadow what was an awesome event.
Crystal Beach is the place we like to play. We come and spend money renting beach houses, hotels, eating, gas and riding the beach. The majority stay within the law but the few who do get arrested/ticketed make the jeepers look bad. We are already a target when we hit the beach. We must respect the beach and the area home owners as if we were playing in their yard. I just don’t beleive in stirring the pot just because you can.

  16. Patrick Hughes says:

Still here, having a great time riding the beach ! Thank you to Crystal Beach for the hospitality !

  17. Jeepinfor fun says:

What they MEANT to say was thank you for kindly recognizing the event. Your community, stores and residents were very welcoming and cordial. We were glad to spend our time and money when treated in such a fantastic manner. See you next year!

As for the grudge match…get over yourself….your embarrassing both groups!

  18. Tom says:

Wow…if we had known this was going to cause such a stink, we would not have posted the story. We are just a couple of local residents with an online news blog. If we left out some facts, we are sorry, but we certainly did not intend to belittle the event. Based on what we were told, there we 85 jeeps in the picture. Jeeping Dude, we would be happy to publish your version of the story if you would send it to us. Thanks. (Publisher, CBLN)

  19. Jeeping Dude says:

I said nothing derogatory. Just responded to a reported fact that is in fact untrue and belittles the event as a whole. Never claimed it was a contest. The event is Sponsored by “All Thing Jeep” which is mentioned no where, nor did I mention HJP although they did show in force and donated to the local food bank. BTW, everyone knows you have a way of making yourself front and center. I hope someday you get all that recognition you so deserve.

  20. Texas Trax says:

Whoever Jeeping Dude is, you should contact me. This is not the place to spread derogatory comments/things around. This is a public posting & please bring it back into the jeep Community. Crystal Beach went over very well this year, with a lot of praise for all the Jeepers that were there. This was not a contest, only the 1st Topless event for Texas Jeeps to sponsor on their own. I/We know all about the Seawall Shoot, I published the HJP info for it in all my postings this year, giving HJP full credit on our website, telling all Peeps to choose what they wanted to do. BTW – I was in the center & helped set up last years HJP photo shoot. I chose another path this year.

  21. Jeeping Dude says:

85 Jeeps? Really? Did you get you facts from CNN. This event has been going on for several years and this might have been the best event yet. The photo on Seawall Blvd had over 300 Jeeps in it, and I bet there were 300 or more that decided not to fight the Ferry and remained in Crystal Beach instead. Maybe next time you can use a count clicker to get a closer number, or at least get your info from someone other than a Splinter Cell of an already huge Jeep Group. 85 Jeeps, LOL. There were more than that in the a 50 yard section of Crystal. Nice try Texas Jeeps.

  22. Houston JeepPeople says:

World Wide Jeep Go Topless day was a huge event. Over 400 Jeeps were in Galveston and BP for the weekend. A photo was taken on East Seawall with over 300 Jeeps. Way of life Jeepin.

  23. Randy Garza says:

Great showing for Texas Jeeps’ first “GoTopless” event. Thx to all the different jeep clubs for coming out. A special thx to the residence of Crystal Beach for great hospitality. Already looking forward to next years “GoTopless” event.
