Lee Crowder Elevated to Regional Services Coordinator

crowder0Galveston County Commissioners Court voted unanimously last Tuesday to enhance the County staff serving Bolivar Peninsula. The Bolivar Road and Bridge Manager, Lee Crowder, is being elevated to the newly created position of Regional Operations Manager for the Bolivar Peninsula. In that role, Crowder will continue to have ultimate oversight over Road and Beach operations on the Peninsula, but he will take on surrogate supervisory responsibilities over parks, beach sticker, and capital improvement projects as well. To enable Crowder to handle these additional responsibilities, and to enhance responsiveness, a new customer service representative position is being added to Crowder’s team.

County Commissioner Ryan Dennard, who represents the Peninsula, said, “This is something I’ve been thinking about for a while now. The geography makes it so challenging to coordinate services there. I became convinced that we need a staff member to serve as a unified point of contact and help continue to improve the quality of service on the Peninsula. Lee Crowder is the obvious choice. He’s extremely capable and already has the trust and confidence of Bolivar residents.”

Lee Crowder said he was excited about the changes. “I’m excited to take on more responsibility, particularly in an area that I’m so invested in professionally. It gives me a chance to make a greater positive impact on the community.”

While Parks Department employees will continue to report to their department director, Julie Diaz, Crowder will help provide on-site supervision and overall program coordination. “It’s a collaborative relationship,” said Diaz.

Dennard also said that he was pleased to get an extra set of eyes on the many capital projects the county has going on throughout the Peninsula. “We can’t change the challenges of the geography, but hopefully the additional staff and new structure will position us to manage it well.”
