Let the good times roll

brunch_00The Lighthouse Krewe delivered The 17th Annual Mardi Gras Brunch on Sunday. The Brunch was held at beautiful Steve’s Landing on the Intracoastal. While breakfast was being prepared, and amongst the beads and feathers and roaring 20’s flappers, Mimosa’s were poured for all to enjoy! What more could you ask for such a gala event!?! This affair is held each year to crown a new King and Queen and honor the service of last year’s royalty. The primary responsibilities of Mardi Gras Royalty are to represent the Krewe with appropriate levels of Joie de Vivre, a phrase often used to express a cheerful enjoyment of life. Long live our Kings and Queens!

With the Court settled at the head table, cupcakes were handed out to the three couples seeking coronation (Jimmy Dinkins and Linda Calvey, Danny and Shelly Butts, Bobby and Lydia Spirko), with only one cupcake containing a baby inside. Duke Danny Butts was the recipient of the Baby, and as the new King, he quickly chose Dutchess Shelly Butts to be his Queen – how appropriate! Former King, Matt Pace, led a toast to King Danny and Queen Shelly. He then raised his glass to the beloved Former King, Ed Riley, deceased. The celebration continued with breakfast, then ended with a lively silent auction.

Kudos to Officers of the Lighthouse Krewe: Bobbey White, President, Mark Hunstiger, 1st Vice-President, Anne Willis, 2nd Vice-President, Shelly Butts, Secretary, Fran Skiles, Treasurer, Linda Calvey, Member at Large.
