Lighthouse Krewe’s Big Weekend

The Lighthouse Krewe had a very busy, fun filled weekend! Saturday evening brought out many 50s and 60s costumed merrymakers to celebrate the Krewe annual 50/60s dance at the Ships Wheel. The Texas Blues Brothers Tribute Band entertained a packed house with enthusiastic energy! There was an exciting dance competition won by Jimmy Boggan & Joyce Thornborough and a costume contest won by “Kay’s 50’s Diner” with Ray Long, Richard & Lana Thompson, Davey & Joyce Thornborough & Francie & Jimmy Boggan. Winners all received a 2015 Krewe t-shirt and beads designed by Ellen Simon.

Sunday was the Annual Brunch and Silent Auction held at Stingaree Down Under. This annual event is held to select the new King and Queen from a very worthy Court. Donna and Jerry Mittendorf, Chairpersons, welcomed everyone to the Brunch and introduced the Court Members. Donna passed out mini Mardi Gras decorated cupcakes to the Duchesses and Jerry passed out the tray to the Dukes. Excitement began to build as the Court dug into the cakes to find the coveted “baby” that would designate them King and Queen of The Lighthouse Krewe 2015!!

Lady Luck smiled on Fran Skiles, making her the New Queen, and Ed Riley, making him the New King!! They will be Crowned at the upcoming Ball to be held January 31st by outgoing King Matt & Queen Bobbey.

This is a very special year for the Bolivar Peninsular Lighthouse Krewe! It is the 25th annual parade! To celebrate this amazing milestone, Anne Willis, founder of the Lighthouse Krewe, and the Krewe are sponsoring an AFTER PARTY at Gregory Park right after the parade on February 14th. Three Way Switch will entertain the crowd, as well as face painters, bounce toys, food booth and FLOAT JUDGING contest!! Please bring your chair and cooler and join us! LAISSEZ LE BON TEMP ROULER!!!
