My latest obsession – Recipes

GO_0825By Georgia Osten
That’s not to say I’m a great cook, I just love cooking. I can spend hours in the kitchen. My daughter sent me a link from Pinterest this morning that she raved about – it was a lemon/blueberry loaf with zucchini and a lemon glaze. My youngest, this is the kid who took apart her McDonald’s Hamburger to eat only the meat?? At Sacred Heart, First Grade, the parents could bring their child lunch, so Daddy brought her a hamburger from McDonalds. When asked later “how” she liked it/ate it (in front of her school mates), she said, of course all put together, like a real hamburger. Sometimes, peer pressure pays off in a positive way.

As I was saying, recipes are the “food of life” for me these days. From the Pinterest site sent to me this morning, I ventured to all sorts of dishes – one I’m preparing tonight. Of course, this recipe required a trip to The Big Store for spices I’ve never heard of before – and guess what? The Big Store had them all!

My sweet husband, I call him “the guinea pig,” will try anything I fix. He will even praise stuff I couldn’t stand. I can’t even remember the dish I made that night – so awful, he went back for seconds (which is always a compliment), but I saw right through his niceties. I threw away the left overs and even threw away the recipe. No need in keeping it around if it’s a dud, right?

I’m a website fanatic with all these cooking places – Cooking Light, Yummy, or is is Yummly? They all HAVE me now, I’m bombarded by emails each morning. The latest is one my friend just sent me called Full Plate.

Wait, I just thought of something – what if we started a recipe page on this website? I know Jan Kent has one, which by the way, is another one I follow religiously. Let me know what you think.

In the meantime, Bon Appetit Mes Amis

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
