My Most Favorite Time of Year – Christmas!

What if Christmas doesn’t come from a store, what if Christmas means a little bit more? Seuss
A lot of tradition, that’s what Christmas is in our family. I can’t tell you what an uproar the first batch of cookies brought to our family. PawPaw and I were planning a trip to “the big city.” That means “away from the Peninsula.” I thought, why not bake each of the families (Pearland and League City) a Christmas tin of their favorites – we call them Jam Strip Teasers. Really, as I told you, it’s a tradition.

We absolutely had to make this trip because, of course, “The Girls” had a date to go to the Nutcracker Ballet on Sunday night, yes, another tradition. We counted this our 12th Annual with my oldest granddaughter, Emma, but, how many with my other two daughters? We couldn’t count. The thing is, after all these many years, Houston Ballet decided to change not only the costumes, the setting, but the script! We were ecstatic, but Emma was in her element – theater production/staging – accepted to Baylor Theater School in Fall ’17. Do I sound like a proud Grandma?

On the other side, let me go back to the cookies. I received the most endearing video from my youngest grandson, Pierce, thanking Nana for the cookies and the biggest kiss alive! I’ve played it back to myself a million times and if you stop by my office, I’m likely to play it for you as well.

Also tradition – Keep Christ in Christmas
