I just knew fifty years ago that we had the newest gadgets known to man. For our wedding we received an electric coffee pot, electric skillet, an electric blender, (avocado green and I still have it), and a two-speed mixer. We were uptown! As I sit here going through the Bed Bath & Beyond flyer, Wow, have times changed. Ninja this and Ninja that, I thought a Ninja was someone in a cartoon show. How many ways can you make coffee or blend a drink? Let me count the ways.
Did you see Fondue pots have come back, who knew? I think I just gave away my forks for that set! A vegetable spiral cutter, what is wrong with that peeler, oh, I know it’s not electric. A breakfast sandwich maker? Hello! A skillet works really well.
I walked down the cereal aisle the other day, and instead of going straight for my regular box, I decided I needed to try something new. Never mind, that was way too much brain work, much less all the reading I needed to do to see exactly what was in that box. Remember when our parents had three or four to choose from?
The other night there was a commercial for a Quick twist, electric hair braider. Can you imagine the mess that would be if your small child/grandchild tried to use this? Just go ahead and cut that hair right off. The tears and screams you would hear and see, and of course, it would be your fault.
And we wonder why we need bigger kitchens and baths? It’s for all the new gadgets. You don’t think I’m jealous, do you?
