Nice and tidy

Well, I don’t consider myself a frou frou sort of person, I don’t spend a lot on makeup or clothes or things like that. I do love shoes and I have a closet full. I thought I’d try a hair salon in Galveston, recommended by a few of my Crystal Beach friends – geez, are they rich or something?? I came out of there $90 later looking pretty much like I did when I went in.

I always envy my friends who have manicures and pedicures. They look so pretty, like cheerleaders … Anjelah Johnson. So, the other day, I bought a bottle of beautiful red nail polish, brought it home and placed it on my dresser in my bedroom. Every time, I put on a pair of flip flops, I would think about how nice it would be if I gave myself a pedicure.

The other day, in a frenzy at the house to get some laundry done on my break from the Pearl Beach Charity BBQ event, I went through room after room gathering anything looking like it needed to go to the laundry room. I grabbed a pile of clothes from the top of the dresser and BANG! There went the bottle of nail polish, hitting the tile floor spattering polish all over the white floor, my white dresser, the bedskirt and my brand new black capri pants, the ones I had only worn for about 30 minutes.

Holy Cow! Panicking, I stepped in the polish, then heading to the kitchen for paper towels, I tracked red polish from the bedroom to the kitchen. The place looked like a crime scene, and I was the guilty party – where’s the yellow police tape?

The paper towels only smeared the polish. I ran out of what little polish remover I had and a whole bag of cotton balls. I threw the pants in the washer and got polish all over the washer. Needless to say, washing the pants did nothing – trashed the pants.

My conclusion – beauty is only skin deep, save some time AND some money – go ahead and let a professional do those nails. Nice and tidy.

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
