Oktoberfest: Crystal Beach Style

On Saturday, October 7, Big Jim Denys hosted his third annual Oktoberfest and the 41st birthday of Crystal Beach’s Fraternal Order of Eagles. Big Jim and his crew served up and sold out of beer brats, mushroom gravy pork medallions, red cabbage, german potato salad, and sauerkraut with a wide array of German inspired desserts. German Music played throughout the day. The Eagles Lodge in Crystal Beach officially opened on October 3, 1976, so Big Jim’s event is now the Birthday Tradition of the Eagles. It was a very casual event with people coming and going all day long. However, the food and german beer were all gone by 5p.m. The Eagles had 2 pony kegs of St. Arnold’s Oktoberfest and neither one lasted that long. In fact, they had so much fun that they are already planning for next year’s event! The Oktoberfest at the Eagles, as are all of their Saturday lunches, are open to everyone. The Eagles want to thank everyone who came out and celebrated with us Saturday.
