The Great Escape

GO_0331By Georgia Osten
On my gosh, we’re actually leaving the beach for almost a week. We’ve been off and on again about so many events/happenings lately which involved getting away. One, most recently, where we decided we could never leave, the 70th birthday of one of our favorite people, a night long trip to Dallas, we cancelled. Our minds were so labored by all the stuff going on in our community, all the stuff we’re committed to. What the heck, we’re retired for goodness sakes!

It’s the stuff that wakes us at 3am and keeps us awake for a few hours. We should probably get up and take some notes, but that’s a bit more stimulating than you really need at 3am. Anyway, Adios my mis amigos, for awhile. We’re headed to California – Monterey – we’ll visit Carmel, San Francisco, maybe venture down Hwy 1. I’ll bring y’all some artichokes back. Best of all is that I will see three out of six grandchildren – three of the lights of my life, breathing in their goodness.

Friends, this is what it’s all about, I’ll be a better a person when I return – promise!

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.

Enjoy! Isn’t that what retirement is for?
