Saving the Bay one pledge at a time

GBF_0Galveston Bay Foundation (GBF), through its partnership with the Texas Living Waters Project, is proud to announce the launch of the Galveston Bay Water Brigade: Save Water, Save the Bay campaign. The campaign calls for people and businesses to engage and take action in saving water through taking a pledge at www.gbwb.org. Pledges include reducing shower time, turning off the faucet while brushing your teeth, saving water in a rain barrel, repairing toilet leaks and more. Every drop of water saved helps ensure Galveston Bay receives the freshwater it needs to maintain healthy populations of birds, oysters, fish, shrimp and other wildlife.

“Maintaining the balance of freshwater in our Bays starts with each one of us,” said Paula Paciorek, Galveston Bay Foundation Water Resource Coordinator. “Every drop of water saved means more water left for the rivers, lakes, and ultimately the Bay. If we use less water at home or work, the Bay maintains the water levels it needs to support all the life that depends on it.”

“Each one of us is responsible for doing our part in conserving water and the Galveston Bay Water Brigade site is a great place to start,” Paciorek said. Taking a pledge through the Galveston Bay Water Brigade is one small step in ensuring that Galveston Bay remains a healthy and productive ecosystem for generations to come. Visit www.gbwb.org and sign the pledge today.
