Stock Up

GO-0328By Georgia Osten
I’ve learned over the years to take nothing for granted. We can go with serious stuff like relationships, family, your job, your health, on and on. But, because I promised you last week I’d be less serious and get back to my “happy-go-lucky” self, I want to talk to you about bath powder. Being less serious, I’m not going to mention the fact that there are warnings out about bath powder, particularly talc, that causes cancer or something. Basically, I wish to convey that whenever you find something you really like, be it a pair of capris, a t-shirt, underwear, whatever you find that you really love, go ahead and buy 2 or 3, different colors, same color, just buy multiples. Have you ever gone back to the store to buy another pair of those pants and they’re not there anymore?

So, I’ve been loving this bath powder for maybe 4 decades. I can remember being introduced to this fresh smell that long ago. My friend’s Mom would buy him the splash-on after-bath Jean Nate. As soon as I found out they made it in a powder form, I began using it. The Grands know it as “Grandma.” It comes in the pretty yellow canister. The price has doubled, no, tripled since I began using it. Heck, I couldn’t have afforded it way back then at the price it is now.

Every time I go to Walgreens, I buy 2 or more boxes, especially if it’s on sale. The last two trips to Walgreens, there were none. I finally asked the lady at the cosmetic counter when they would be ordering more? She said they’ve discontinued it. WHAT!!!!! My husband said, “just order it from Amazon.” Honestly, I tried that before, thinking I’d get a better price, but it just doesn’t smell the same … It smells like it’s been sitting around in an Amazon warehouse for too long.

My message, when you find something you really love, stock up. That goes for un-materialistic stuff as well – hugs, kisses, friends, good times, sunshine, moonlight and beach time.
