Take a Book – Return a Book

library-0A library has moved into a local neighborhood. Karen Rush, a published author, and her husband Jim Rush, an avid reader, have opened a free library on their street in Pearl Beach Subdivision. Both have recently retired and now live at the beach full time. Thinking about how they had to give away nearly 800 books when they moved, they decided to reach out to LittleFreeLibrary.org and received a charter for their own little library. Their son-in-law built the little library box based on the given specifications from LFL. He had already built two little libraries for his Houston area subdivision, so he was well versed on the art of library crafting. The Rush family installed it in mid-June and posted the location on social media. Soon after, people started to stop by on Clara Street, taking a book and leaving another.

When Tropical Storm Cindy was approaching a few weeks ago, Karen removed the books for safe keeping to prevent damage. Upon their return after the storm, the little library was restored and filled with books again. Jim said he looks forward to reading books other people leave behind to share.
