Thankful for the seasons of life

BrendaBy Brenda Cannon Henley
While in Atlanta, GA, recently to attend the funeral of my precious aunt, I was awed by the amazing fall colors of the turning leaves. I thought they were majestic, but locals kept telling me they had little color, compared to other years, because of a lack of rain. Perception in all of life is so important. We often tend to see what we are looking for – both in nature, surroundings, and people. I do realize that there are extremes and that many things simply cannot be overlooked or ignored no matter how hard we try. But I have lived long enough to know that our attitude, or how we view things, can often turn doom and gloom into joy and blessing.

The blessed Scripture teaches that we humans experience various seasons of our lives. We all have times to be happy and glad, and we all have times when we are sorrowful and sad. We mourn, we laugh, we cry, we dance, we learn, and we teach. The older we get (hopefully), we learn to embrace these changes as they come, garner good from each one, and mature gracefully while enjoying the days God has given us.

There is little sense fighting against the pricks. This is a biblical expression and you might find it interesting to find out what it means. Determine to learn from the past, fully enjoy the present, and look forward to the future.

I am thankful that I am learning to embrace a little better the new seasons as they come. These three trees reminded me of the past, the present and the future seasons.

Happy Thanksgiving 2016.
