Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving – typical, brings back memories from many years gone by. On Wednesday, I baked an apple pie and a pecan pie, then my granddaughter showed up. “Grandma, did you make a pumpkin pie, Mom loves pumpkin pie!” Well, no I didn’t, but I have all the stuff except evaporated milk. That’s okay, my grandkids love to go to The Big Store. We decided to start enjoying our pies on Thanksgiving Eve. You never know if you’ll be hungry after Thanksgiving dinner, so might as well go ahead and partake.

Hours of preparation for the Thanksgiving meal, no problem, we had plenty of what everyone likes and some things not everyone likes – yams and homemade cranberry sauce. The actual meal went a lot faster than the preparation, doesn’t it always?

Football started, my son-in-law was ready, dinner was done and everyone needed a nap anyway. Emma made another heavenly dessert, some kind of cheesecake with Oreos – oh my goodness! We finished up the Mexican Train game we began the night before, the kids left to go back home around 10 Thanksgiving night to get a start on Black Friday. Nothing like Black Friday to keep me on the Peninsula and away from stores. So much more football, on and on!

Things to be thankful for: My family and loved ones, God Bless them all! One more thing to be thankful for: “Hallmark” hours – with all that football, I think I’ve racked up some quality Hallmark hours, probably enough to get me through the Christmas season and then some. Where are my tissues?

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you. Email: [email protected]
