‘Twas the Night Before Christmas

We arrived in North Carolina on Wednesday before Christmas. A tradition in our home for too many years to count, has been to make up names to put on packages – not our real names. Other themes, Finding Nemo, Mater & Lighting McQueen, Pluto, Mickey & Minnie Mouse, Star Wars, Happy Feet, Toy Story. This year was Star Wars again since Star Wars just won’t go away. For days, the kids, all three, have been anticipating Christmas Morning, and every morning (under NO supervision), the kids would go through all the presents under the tree, arranging them according to gift recipient – be it Princess Leia, Hans Solo, R2-D2, Obe-Wan, and so on. Every morning, Mommy would come down and arrange the presents back under the tree. I’m not kidding, this happened every morning. Finally, Christmas Eve – Kids’ Mass.

Christmas morning dawned – never mind, it didn’t “dawn,” Dark as ever. Daddy had the top of the stairs roped off, not letting anyone pass until 6 am. The time came and the troops barreled downstairs to see what Santa had left for them. Oh my goodness, a scooter for Dax (almost 4 years old), a pink baseball bat for Addyson (8 years old), headphones for Michael (6 years old), but the grand prize for all was the trampoline Santa and his elves must have put together after the kids went to bed.

All in all, we were done unwrapping everything and the kids were out on the trampoline before the sun came up. That’s okay, it left time for a nice nap, before preparing for Christmas dinner.

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and from this old Beach Bum, I wish you all a very prosperous New Year.
