Youth

This past week-end we had our youngest Grandson, Matthew, stay with us. He had seen a pair of tennis shoes he really wanted and his Mom said fine, if you work and pay for them. Grandma and Papa were helping. Well really he was doing us a favor as the work we needed done was washing the home-on-wheels from roof to bottom. You see, we do not pass the bounce test too well any more. This job is something I did just before we left for our trip. It took me most of the day to wash that big thing and clean the windows. Of course, I could not move too well the next day and my legs were killing me. But he is young, 15 and 6’1” tall and can do everything we needed done in very little time. I think I remember youth? I think???

We stopped at Shrimp & Stuff on our way back home, his favorite place to eat. That gave him fuel for the evening; it gave us a full tummy and a call for a nap. I love Youth. He got to see what it is like on a Friday night coming to the beach from Galveston, boy, was he surprised. Saturday morning he was ready to start work, not so much the Papa. CB-0502-2Papa needed his coffee and morning time. Youth does not understand the needs of “old people”. Finally Papa was ready to work, I had to leave, I had plans for the morning, smart Grandma. Heard tell that when Matthew was on the roof, Papa who was working on the ground, got a shower several times. Darn, wish I could have seen that.

Saturday evening is usually a get-together in the park and people bring food and beverages to one home or another, this Saturday was one of those Saturdays. I thought Matthew was going to get sick he ate so much. Then there was the unbelievable dessert, Matthew could have eaten the whole thing.

Sunday, he washed both of our trucks and helped finish the touch-up. We took him back to Pearland in the evening; he really was not ready to go home. We understood. Love that Youth and those Grandsons and Granddaughters.
