A grand Thanksgiving for ALL

A grand Thanksgiving for ALLBy Georgia Osten
After so many decades of preparing Thanksgiving dinner, I think it’s getting easier. Well, let’s say it’s not as mind-blowing and frazzling. We had a good crowd, minus 5 of some of the top players, but they were with us in thoughts and prayers. Everything seemed to be ready at the same time, which is a miracle in itself. No matter how scheduled, there’s always the turkey to be carved, the ham to be sliced and placed on a platter, then, of course, the gravy and rolls are always the stragglers to the table. For some reason, the crescent rolls were in sheets, so Camber had to recreate the triangles to roll them up to represent rolls.

Leigh pulled out the strawberries at the final minutes, needless to say, they didn’t make it to the table along with the strawberry cream cheese dip I had intended. It’s all good, Pierce (age 3) wouldn’t have paid too much attention to the “good stuff” with any attention-stealer-strawberries.

We said our blessing(s). There are always two. Pierce has his famous God is Great, which takes on the form of shark fins on the top of your head and ends with AMEN jaws snapping. Then, we follow it with our standard Bless us, oh Lord

This was the twins’(age 7 months) First Thanksgiving. Oh my goodness, you should have seen them go after the mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and sweet potatoes. Mommy and Daddy couldn’t shovel the food in quick enough! The meal lasted longer than I expected, which is a good thing, after spending such a long time in the planning and preparing. Everyone began winding down so the table could be cleared for pies. Out of the blue, Pierce held up his fork and proclaimed Dilly Dilly!

Hope it was a grand Thanksgiving for ALL!
