A Sight to Behold – Mardi Gras Crystal Beach – Endless Summer!

People lined Hwy 87 from Avocet to Gregory Park, sometimes 2 to 3 rows thick to watch the 50+ floats trickle by, throwing beads, buttons, 2012 Crab Festival Shirts, candy, cups, doubloons and even doggie treats for those 4 legged viewers. The parade was sponsored by the Bolivar Peninsula Lighthouse Krewe, whose float carried the entire Court: Kings, Queens, Dukes and Duchesses, past and present. First Place in the Large Float category went to Don & Tanna Kimbro for their Cruise Ship, and First Place in the Small Float category went to Leo Willis’ Swede’s Real Estate float. The People’s Choice award went to Stuart Standley’s Dirt Krewe, and Best Vehicle went to NEM Loot Shrine Clowns.

Wow – wish I had know all these folks years ago when I lived in Gilchrist…the parade looks like so much fun.

Wish the “Bolivar Peninsula Medical Clinic” would have a float…I was the first nurse back when Dr. Ferry was the doc in 1980…Crystal Beach 1st medical clinic. Anne Willis was our manager – and Leonard Willis was my daughters first boyfriend at the age of 8yrs old or so.

    Miss the beach so much..
