Another jam-packed weekend

By Georgia Osten
I know you all must envy our lifestyle, but I can’t help bragging. You see, we spent yet another weekend with the Big Brother and five “Littles.” Just kidding, it seems like there’s five of them, but in reality, there’s only two Littles. Their parents moved to a new home, we (and they) hope it will be their Forever Home! It’s been in the make-over stage for at least 8 months. It finally became livable, so they moved enough furniture in, without leaving the old house empty.

The old house is staged with (it seems) like the majority of stuff, because the new house echoes mightily – there are no rugs yet, they’re all over there. We’ve known about this outing for quite some time. This is the “ski trip.” Right!

Okay, how many of you, in the midst of moving into a new house, would plan a ski trip? I know, youth, right?? Not only that, but the skiers, complete with poles, skis, jackets, and ski pants packed away into a ski apparatus to hold such items, was lost on the shuttle from Denver to Breckenridge. Yep, the ski lodge will be “eating it” on replacements.

Anyway, back at the Ranch! Here’s me and PawPaw herding cats in this humongous echoing house. The five Littles know how to open each and every door, I mean, the pantry, the front door, every bedroom, every bathroom, the garage, you get it! Not to mention every drawer, every cabinet, all these built-in wall units, not to mention the kitchen and all storage within – no child locks have been installed yet (I think that’s a project upon return from said “Ski Trip”).

All else is the same, “Three Men in a Tub,” dinners of Chicken Nuggets, sweet potatoes and every fruit you can imagine. Naps are the same, Nana will escape to go to HEB, Dillards and Sam’s.

We survived, so did they, all is well. We’ll do it again in a heartbeat – love them kiddos!

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you. Email: [email protected]
