Another One Bites the Dust

Georgia's Sand BucketBy Georgia Osten
Yep, I still get one, every year, and I ain’t complainin’. Growing up, my birthday signified the beginning of school. Right after Labor Day, we’d prepare for the school year. New clothes, new school supplies, a backpack, pencils and paper. My birthday would normally fall on the holiday, so school would start right after the holiday.

The guys at work pulled off a great surprise. Right around noon all eight of the guys came into my office with cake already a-blaze! No, I couldn’t blow out ALL those candles at one shot, it took me three times.

Our son made arrangements to meet over in Galveston later that evening for a Birthday Dinner. Willie G’s here we come! Here’s a pic of us with The Littles. The USS Texas is in the background. Our Littles are sure growing up, but I guess the name will stick at least until they’re 6’5” like their Dad.

Here at home, Labor Day is the last hoorah for the season. Folks still managed to get out to enjoy their vacations in between the raindrops and mosquitos.

Cheers to Another Trip Around the Sun!
