Bitalio is pictured here, with major LS contributor Tim Byrom of Brint Construction, in front of his painting “The History of the Marine Corps.” It now hangs in the central living area of the retreat compound. Bitalio’s murals can be seen at Noah’s Ark Bar & Grill in Bacliff among other sites. He is the brother of Cent Allen, Winnie artist whose murals appear on numerous beach houses around Crystal Beach. Bitalio also sings with the musical group “646” and credits San Leon artist Gary Holeman as his mentor.

Thanks to Bitalio & Cynthia for letting me in on this. Made a great item for the Crystal Beach Local News & I got to visit the Lone Survivor Retreat compound which is TRULY impressive. Senior moment: some things I didn’t include in the article and wish I had:

    • LS website:

    http://lsfcrystalbeach.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=1091089

    • A credit to Tom Osten, Crystal Beach Local News webmaster, for taking the picture of Bitalio & Tim Byrom of Brint Construction. Bitalio’s sister, Winnie artist Cynthia Allen, took the picture of Bitalio’s painting.

    • See the ammo fire in the painting? Bitalio included ‘black light’ paint in the gunfire. Plans are to rig up a blacklight on the wall opposite so that really shows up even in daylight.

Watch for news of a Christmas Open House at this compound which is normally not open to the public. It is, after all, primarily a therapy retreat site. These plans are just on the drawing board right now, but if they work out, it will be a chance for the public to visit this incredible site.
