Pastor Valerie Hudson planned the music and sermon for Teacher Appreciation Sunday. Cat Holtclaw decorated the altar to look like a blackboard with, “It Takes A Big Heart To Shape Little Minds,” written in chalk. Members and guests wrote thank you, or encouraging thoughts, on a large sheet of paper that will be posted in Crenshaw. Since teachers are often given apples in appreciation, members passed out shiny red ones to the educators in attendance.

Teachers illuminate our lives. Some are professionals and others are folk who have taken time to teach us the lessons of life. Their love, compassion, knowledge and spirit of giving have shaped hearts and minds for centuries. Bay Vue UMC delighted in thanking all teachers for their efforts.
