Billie Joyce Simpton

SimptonBillie Joyce Simpton, age 84, of Port Bolivar passed from this life to eternal life on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at her residence in the presence of family. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 pm at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, June 5, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Galveston. Burial will follow at Port Bolivar Cemetery at approximately 12 Noon under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. A reception for family and friends will be at the Port Bolivar Methodist Church Fellowship Hall after the burial service.

Born October 20, 1932 in Chilton, Texas to Rosalee Patricia and Marvin Byrd, Joyce attended Dominican High School for Girls in Galveston. On December 29, 1948 she married the love of her life Frank Simpton, Jr. who preceded her in death after 53 years of marriage on August 1, 2002. The two were members of the Hurricane Square Dancers and traveled to many places together. She was raised in the Catholic faith and remained faithful to her Lord. She was a former member of the Carmelites, the Serra Club; former member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church and a recipient of the PTA Life Membership.

Survivors include, sister, Barbara Cashiola of Houston; daughter, Sandi Simpton-Smith and daughters of Port Bolivar; sons, Randy Simpton and wife Maggie of Canyon Lake, Bruce Simpton and wife Martha of Canyon Lake, T.J. Simpton and wife Cathy of Canyon Lake, and Brian Simpton and wife Sharon of Port Bolivar; brother-in-law, Lyle Simpton and wife Pat of Port Bolivar; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; aunts, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Stephen Simpton, Michael Simpton, Justen Simpton, Matthew Simpton, Richard Anderson and Bryan Anderson.

Memorials may be sent to the Port Bolivar Cemetery Association or the Charity of your choice.
