Bring on the New Year

Georgia's Sand BucketBy Georgia Osten
I hated taking the tree down on Saturday, I miss it terribly. I had Friday off, so I went into town to do some much needed returning. Not much shopping, but enough to try out our new Lift! And, I’m here to tell you it worked just fine! I devoted my Saturday to removing Christmas clutter. My husband helped get all the decorations from the top of the tree and I finished very systematically removing the rest. I sat down in front of the TV and began wrapping each ornament in tissue until I could find the remote so I could turn on Hallmark. I took breaks every once in awhile to go upstairs to remove garland, planned to get to the lights on the deck, but ran out of time. Then, the cold hit during the wee hours of Sunday morning, and I didn’t step foot outside the entire day!

Oh, I did remember to start the black-eyed peas on Saturday, they turned out perfect, not mushy at all. Surprisingly, we haven’t tired of ham, because I had a spiral ham from Kroger ready for the oven. And, of course cabbage and cornbread! I guess I’m just Southern enough to have made this our tradition, gotta love it.

The house looks twice as large now, but still missing the tree.

Know what time it is now? You could search my archived stories, but I’ll save you the time. It’s PUZZLE TIME! I wasn’t very motivated until my Grandson sent me a pic of the completed 1000-piece puzzle we gave him at Christmas. Then, days later, his Mom sent me a pic of another completed puzzle they did. Geez, I looked at my old boxed puzzles up in the closet, but just couldn’t bring myself to do them again!

Luckily, on my trip to town on Friday, I met my daughter and she had a new puzzle for me! Now that the tree is down, I have room to set up the big round puzzle table. And, luckily, my daughter in TelAviv asked me to send her some puzzles, so I sent her those 3 puzzles I found up in the closet.

Can’t wait to get home today, make a cup of hot tea, and tackle my new puzzle. Sheer Enjoyment!

Happy New Year Y’all!

I have several puzzles I’d be happy to lend you! If I weren’t doing ‘dry January,’ I’d say let’s open a bottle of wine and puzzle together!
