Captain Bryan’s Fishing Report, 8-11-2020

By Captain Bryan Brawner
This week we conducted a couple of our on the water classes along with regular fishing charters so we ran all ends of East Bay. The water in most of the bay had excellent water clarity and salinity. There was just not much bait activity or tidal movement with lower tides and the full moon. I did note some shrimp showing up in the back of the bay even though the water there had the clear dark brown summer tint. I think it is setting up to be an exceptional fall season if we can avoid any more fresh water.

We still are catching a lot of smaller specks along with a few solid keepers, but at least they are starting to show up in better numbers on mid bay reefs. When fishing mid bay shell, Down South chartreuse plastic has worked best. Fishing at the jetties has slowed some but now the surf has been turning on for specks with the winds finally correct.

For those that have taken my class, take advantage of your included support now before planning your next trip as fishing can be challenging during this part of summer.

I have some weekdays still open toward the end of August and September and also some opportunities for classes. On the Water Classes are the Best time you will ever invest in to improve your fishing success for the long haul! I have added some special features this year!

Fall is booking up now with prime days for some of the best fishing of the year still available.

This time of year we can run trips where the whole family can be successful with a large variety of fish. Email for questions and availability. Now is the time to book an East Bay Class with the prime fishing just around the corner.

For exact fishing locations and techniques, I am conducting one-on-one classes of the Galveston East Bay System. We will spend a half-day trip exploring that bay and the techniques and timing of fishing there. Bring your hand-held GPS and a map and note pad and I will further your knowledge of the bay and patterns for fishing in all of the seasons of the year. These classes include everything from locations to tackle and lure selection; thus have a lot of content. So, I limit them to 2 persons max at a time. Call 409-256-1265 for more information. We cover a lot of area and burn a lot of gas.

Text or call 409-256-1265 for availability of trips and to reserve your fishing adventure. You can also e-mail me [email protected] for updated fishing conditions and trip availability.
