Casting for Sports

The 4th Annual Peninsula Sports Park Flounder Tournament was reeling with fun on Saturday. Seventy adult and youth anglers signed up to cast the line for the winning flounder. Both adult and kid divisions began casting for the ultimate weigh-in beginning at 2pm. After weigh-in, Delino announced the winners of the flounder tournament. Then prizes were awarded to include a 50/50 cash pot, a Beretta shotgun raffle, and many door prizes.

Delino happened to catch the biggest flounder but excused himself from the trophy presentation. However, he did accept the Big Fish pot! Fishing in his first tournament, little Luke Blanchard caught a 3 lb 5 oz flounder good for 2nd Place in the Kids Division. And while youngster Dallas “King Alfred” Wiard was asked to draw names for the door prizes, he drew his own name for a custom rod. The expression of shock and excitement was priceless.

Congratulations to the participants and the winning anglers! See you next year.

And a BIG THANKS to all the generous sponsors.
