Celebrating at Second Going

By Linda Elissalde
Bay Vue United Methodist Church’s Second Going Retail Store had several reasons to celebrate this month, and that they did. Their mission statement is, “To use the proceeds from the resale shop to help the poor and needy on Bolivar Peninsula.” They also do much, much more. The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) rewarded their generosity with a special recognition certificate.

A declaration certainly worth celebrating, but there was another reason also. Manager Fran Griffin had her ? Birthday on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. What better to do than join these two events together the next day? Pizza and cake were enjoyed by Birthday Girl Fran, Director Dennis Stafford, Volunteers Joy McKee and Paula Alam. Fran had only one candle to blow out on her cake. She did that most successfully. The group and visitors Marcel and Linda C. Elissalde gobbled down great pizza from Tiki Bar while catching up on all the latest Second Going events. Of course no visit to the store is complete without finding something you just “have to have”.

Second Going Retail Store is always fun to visit on Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays. You can celebrate finding an item you need or celebrate visiting with workers and friends. March 5 added a few more reasons to enjoy this wonderful and giving shop!
