Chamber Scholarship Golf Tournament

The skies were blue and the weather was perfect for the Bolivar Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Golf Tournament on Saturday. The annual tournament was rescheduled a couple of times due to the pandemic, but on Saturday it looked and felt like the old days. Thirty-six players signed up to play in support of the Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund. The ten teams were selected by blind draw at the Calcutta on Friday night.

The golfers teed off promptly at 8 am. As they made their way around the course, the ladies of Nauti’s drove the drink cart with a variety of beverages for the thirsty patrons. A $10,000 prize was up for grabs if anyone was skilled enough (read: lucky enough) to score a Hole-In-One on hole #3. There was also prize money for the Closest-to-the-Pin on hole #8. And at the turn, they were greeted at the clubhouse and served grilled sausage and boudin to cure the hunger, compliments of Bill and Diana Agnew.

As the golfers finished and the scorecards were turned in, low scores filled the board. The team of Mike Comeaux, Bob Jackson, Sr., Brent Finch, and Suzy Holt took First Place with a score of 10 under par. Congratulations to the winners! The students on the peninsula benefit greatly from the kindness of the community. Big Thanks to the Chamber of Commerce, the generous sponsors, the dedicated volunteers, and all the golfers supporting the next generations.
