Change to Chambers County

The Beaumont Enterprise obviously talked to only a few folks about Bolivar Peninsula wanting to switch to Chambers County. That fact was brought up by Commissioner elect Ryan Dennard during his meeting when he asked for a how of hands ‘for’ and ‘against’. The overwhelming vote was to stay in Galveston County, so hopefully that is at a dead end. I noticed that none of this meeting that crystalbeach.com had a front row seat, has come out on the site even though it was a great meeting with the New Commissioner. (Don H)

I hope that meeting really was the end of it. Bolivar Peninsula was already part of Chambers County many, many years ago. (my family has owned property here since 1955, when they divided up the “Bolivar Watermelon” patches.) I like Winnie, but Galveston County really has done more for the peninsula than CC did. I watched it with my own 2 eyes.

How many people from Galveston go to Crystal Beach?, now how many people from Chambers County and the surrounding counties go there and enjoy the beaches and support the local economy, now you decide.

Galveston has their own beach so not much of them come over here, but I go over there to sightsee! Keep in mind that Beaumont is in Jefferson County and Anahuac is the County Seat of Chambers County. I don’t see how they could improve the Peninsula.

Me, too, Don. I’d like to sightsee more but can’t handle the ferry traffic–love the ferry, though! Does anyone use the Island Transport bus service? It’d be nice to park on the Bolivar side, hop the ferry, hop the bus, and then back again instead of waiting forever on a ferry each way in a hot car with the grandkids.

I think you should make the change.

Why change to Chambers County? What would be the benefit? Galveston County is doing a great job on the roads, beaches, Sheriff’s Dept, etc. and we just got a GREAT new Commissioner!
