Christmas Festival in Bolivar

The 1st Annual Bolivar Christmas Festival was a huge success. The Pavilion At Festival Park in Crystal Beach was joyfully packed as shoppers supported Bolivar on Small Business Saturday. With 40 booths of arts, crafts, clothing, furniture, gnomes, handmade items, make-up, custom signs, baked goods, and more, shoppers were sure to find some unique gifts. The shoppers and vendors enjoyed live entertainment all day on the Christmas Stage. Bellies were full with hot cocoa, cider, hot dogs, desserts, and more.

As shoppers visited each booth, they were eligible for prizes throughout the day. At 3:45 with lights aglow and sirens ringing, a fire truck brought Santa Claus to the park. A live Nativity Scene with the reading of the Christmas Story was presented at 5:45. And promptly at 6:00, Santa pointed his magic finger and lighted the 33’ Christmas tree. The tree will remain lit at night until the end of the year.

The Christmas Festival was brought to you by Bolivar Peninsula Tourism and Visitors Center and the Texas Crab Festival Charities. All proceeds raised are going to the Texas Crab Festival Charities. A very special Thank You to all of the Sponsors for their help in bringing this awesome event to Bolivar Peninsula.

I can see this becoming something really big in future years. Thought the ‘booth-signing sheets’ were a great idea, I actually bought things at booths I might not have viewed so closely if I hadn’t been standing in line to get my sheet signed! But it would be a good idea, in the future, to have Booth No. signs easily seen so we didn’t have to constantly be asking “where’s booth #…?” Just a thought. Overall it was great fun and there were some really neat things for sale.
