The Crenshaw 5th grade class earned the opportunity of a lifetime to attend the Galveston Historical Society’s Tall Ships Festival and sail on one of the ships. They prepared a report and drawing of the ship for a contest and won first place. This included an all-day field trip to the festival and an excursion on the “When and If” Sailboat which was commissioned by General George Patton in 1939. They even got to shoot the cannon! The contest and field trip was underwritten by donor Lynda Barry from Waco, TX. Special thanks to Laura Bryan, our substitute teacher, who helped with the project and supervised students on the field trip.
